We're so glad you're here.
Learning a new school takes time. We hope to smooth the transition. In fact, many of us have been in this position ourselves. We've tried to address common questions below, but if you don't find the answer you're looking for, please get in touch!
How does the school communicate?
Important information and handouts come home in students folders each week. Teachers communicate with parents via email and Remind. ParentVUE is a family access portal. It will allow you to see school announcements, attendance, assignments and report cards as they become available.
The PTO uses this website, its Facebook page, and emails to keep parents up-to-date on events, volunteer opportunities, and pertinent information.
Am I welcome on campus?
Due to COVID-19 protocols, parent volunteers cannot be on school grounds at this time. We hope to be able to provide updated guidance and volunteer opportunities soon.
How do I get involved?
Reach out to your child's teacher. Even though parent volunteers are not allowed on school grounds at this time, your teacher may have projects that can be completed outside of the classroom.
How does pick up and drop off work?
Please see Pick up/Drop off Procedures
What if I need to pick up my child in the middle of the school day?
If possible, please let your child's teacher know in advance so they can have your child ready when you arrive. Park and proceed to the main entrance. Push the intercom button to the right of the doors, and a staff member will buzz you in to sign your child out.
What is Indian Hills like?
Front desk staff quickly learn parent faces and names. Teachers greet students warmly in the halls. The school is physically organized by grade level, facilitating communities within the larger student body.
The hallways are quiet, but colorful! Students walk to lunch and specials (Library, Music, PE, ) with respect for the ongoing classes around them. Bright bulletin boards recognize star students, super staff, and special events. You can learn more about our new principal, Mrs. Thomas, here!
Indian Hills Elementary is truly a school community dedicated to students.
